The world experienced something unlike it's ever seen when a new virus infiltrated the US. COVID19, a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, emerged in December of 2019, causing life threatening symptoms and immediate CDC interference. Hospitals became inundated with patients, making it difficult for medical personnel to provide proper aid and obtain the proper tools to treat them. Fortunately, Enzo Biochem was a significant influence in providing aid during the height of the pandemic. As a pioneer in molecular diagnostics, Enzo raced to make their own COVID-19 swab test and received EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) from the FDA. To mold with the ever-changing CDC guidelines, Enzo hosted drive through tents in their parking lot, and all healthcare professionals sporting code standard PPE to help test the LI population. As the company and its staff swept in quickly to provide immediate aid, they experienced their own personal hardships and setbacks. Aside from consistently being exposed to COVID, they worked tirelessly; a majority working 24-hour days. Widespread uncertainty altered societies way of functioning, and the health professionals were there to lessen the impact from the fallout.
As time has passed since the initial inundation of the virus, intensive research has been underway to attempt to “level the curve” in terms of the number of infections. Enzo believes widespread antibody testing could provide key data for efforts to model the course of the pandemic. By indicating how much of the population is already immune because of mild infections, antibody data could offer a key to how fast the virus will continue to spread. Enzo is an expert in molecular Biology and PCR. They have a clinical laboratory with 40 patient service centers in the tri-state area and we provide millions of diagnostic tests results every year.
Enzo has been installing temporary testing locations in many schools helping people to go back to “normal”. They’ve dedicated specific areas of our patient service centers to COVID testing as well. Enzo is dedicated to supporting Long Island's local communities, so much so, that the company was awarded the COVID Heroes Award. The Enzo team is eager to test as many blood samples as possible to improve everyone's quality of life and prevent more treacherous health experiences. Relatively few cases have been diagnosed among children, but it isn't clear whether that's because they don't get infected or because their infections are generally so mild that they go unnoticed. Testing children for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies should resolve that.
Enzo’s clinical laboratory with 40 patient service centers provides millions of diagnostic test results every year. Their leading convergence of clinical laboratories, life sciences, and intellectual property through the development of unique diagnostic platform technologies that provide numerous advantages over previous standards. Enzo utilizes cross-functional teams to develop and deploy products, systems and services that meet the ever-changing and rapidly growing needs of health care both today and into the future. Proprietary technologies and expertise in manipulating and modifying genetic materials is what sets them apart.
The current medical landscape in the US is dramatically different than in earlier periods. Even as cases have increased — to 80,000 a day, up from less than 30,000 in late March — they’re still far below the heights of earlier this year and started rising from very low levels. Vaccinations, and particularly booster shots, are continuing to provide broad protection against the worst outcomes of Covid-19, even as the virus keeps evolving. Enzo Biochem provides patients with the ability to receive a molecular test to
confirm whether you are currently infected. If your results are positive, it is
important to isolate immediately and continue to monitor your symptoms. If your
results are negative, it means the virus was not present in the sample you provided. It is important to have
blood work performed due to some people with COVID-19 developing abnormal blood clots after catching COVID-19. The clots may also form in multiple places in the body, including in the lungs. This unusual clotting may cause different complications, including organ damage, heart
attack and stroke. A samp
is then tested at Enzo CAP-accredited and CLIA-certified clinical lab to provide
accurate, high throughput, and fast test results. The efforts performed by Enzo
are a direct result of their love for helping others become healthier by
utilizing their expertise in the sciences.
